accreditation questions

Are SIL i-DELTA modules accredited by a university?

Yes. Completion of the Translation and Scripture engagement modules will be received as block credit through the South African Theological Seminary (SATS). We expect that linguistics, literacy, assessment modules will be accredited through a different university. Just under one third (1/3) of the credits required for a 3-year BA will be offered through SIL i-DELTA. The remaining courses to complete the degree should be taken through these academic institutions by means of distance education. Pan Africa Christian University (PACU) has also agreed for their translation modules to be offered through i-DELTA. Remaining courses with PAC would require at least three more years of residential study.

A similar agreement with Africa International University for accreditation should be available by early 2015.

If I want to obtain a degree from PanAfrica Christian University how much will it cost and what will it involve?

You should plan to complete the translation modules in SIL i-DELTA. You may complete the Biblical Studies portion of your training at PACU for approximately 3 years full-time. You may do the Biblical Studies before or after you SIL i-DELTA training. For costs and admission requirements, see their website: www.pacuniversity.ac.ke.

What if I’m enrolled in another university? Can SIL i-DELTA modules be applied toward my degree?

Most likely, yes. SATS is fully accredited in South Africa. AIU and PACU are fully accredited in Kenya. Therefore, it is likely that the credits earned through  SIL i-DELTA will be accepted by other colleges and universities. However, the final decision rests with the academic institution accepting the credits.
